missing device manager

Since upgrading to 8.01 I've found that the "Device Manager", under system -> administration, has disappeared. What happened? How do I get it back?

Thank you

I think you need to install it. Go to the Synaptic Package Manager and search for Device Manager. I think the one you want is gnome-device-manager. It will take care of dependencies for you.

Nope. No entry for anything called device manager listed in the package manager. I've just done a full update, I can only connect to the 'tinterweb occasionally, and there is no device manager present in the repositories and it still hasn't reappeared.
