migrate dapper home folder to edgy ?

Is it possible to migrate Ubuntu dapper home folder to Ubuntu edgy? The reason is that i copied my dapper HDD and then tried upgrade on that one, a complete mess, some dependency errors, and finally when it finished kubuntu-desktop couldn't be installed.
Anyway, has anyone tried to copy their dapper home folder to edgy and ended successfully?

Your best bet is to backup all your documents in /home, and do a clean install and then restore your documents from the backup.

When you do a clean reinstall, create a separate partition for /home, and then you can reinstall without losing your documents.

Try running the update again. Sometimes you may need to try several times to get all the dependencies sorted. Also, make sure that you upgrade using "sudo aptitude dist-upgrade". Aptitude has better dependency resolution than apt-get.

I hope this helps

What I would do is logout, ctrl+alt+F5 log in there and rename your home folder like this: "sudo mv username username2" then reboot, install and DON'T delete you /home partition, mount it as home and make the user the same as you had before, log in and copy the files (just the ones you need, not the config files) to your current home directory and there you are. That's what I usually do.

do
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

and if you still get the error
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Code:
dpkg --get-selections | grep -v deinstall
and fresh installed edgy.
Now only problem is sound.
