another questions in mandrake we install programs whit extension .rpm this is the extension to ubunto?

caladbolg 04-10-2005 08:39 AM

In fact, I just migrated from mandrake to ubuntu and I don't regret it one bit. Ubuntu is extremely user friendly and easy to use. The package management is just as good, if not better than mandrakes urpmi. I highly recommend switching.

Same here I just moved to Ubuntu from Mandrake a today. It took bery little time to install and I have all the aplications I'd ever want.

Ubuntu is based on the Debian Linux distro so all its packages have the .deb extension.

Take a look at Anjuta and kdevelop.

caladbolg 04-11-2005 08:17 PM

Use anjunta if you dont have KDE installed. KDevelop will require hundreds of megs of dependencies otherwise. Quite a waste if you ask me.
