maple 8 in Edgy

hi
i've managed to install maple 8 in dapper with the help of a post in the ubuntuforums.org site by searching with keywords: install maple (sorry, i couldn't give the direct url. since this is my first post, the forum doesn't allow to give other sites' URLs for the s ) but after i ugraded to edgy the program begin to give this error message

/bin/sh: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

to check whether it was due to a possible upgrade error, i've installed maple8 to my home pc, with a clean install of edgy, it gave the same error.

for further info, this is the result of
$ ldd /bin/sh
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7dc2000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7f04000)

any ideas?
thanks in advance

You need the to install libc libraries.

Install the libc6 package for Ubuntu.

the libc6 packages are already installed

by the way, (i don't know is it relevant or not) in my office pc i have reinstalled dapper ('cos i needed maple) and the result of
$ ldd /bin/sh
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000)
libncurses.so.5 => /lib/libncurses.so.5 (0xb7f53000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libdl.so.2 (0xb7f50000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7e20000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fa4000)

it is different than in edgy
the libncurses5 package is installed as well

maybe upgrading to edgy is a bad idea
