Managing source installs with apt
Hi,
First, I consider myself an intermediate linux user. I started way back with Red Hat 7.2 - 9, then migrated to SUSE 9 - 10.2 series. Notice a pattern? They all use rpm to manage their packages.
Many compilations from source later, I learned of the tool "checkinstall". It would conveniently create an rpm of the compiled program that I could use to install it and keep track of it if I wanted to un-install it.
I now migrated a home computer to Ubuntu feisty, both to learn a new distro, and to upgrade to the latest software.
Is there a similar program that will create deb files from my compiled source, that I may keep track of those packages in Ubuntu?
Thanks in advance,
Sam
