Lubuntu wireless

Hello,

My friend has a netbook with very low specifications, and asked me to install a Linux distro. Because of the very low specifications, I decided to make dual boot Lubuntu/Windows XP for him to migrate without any panic.
Everything in Lubuntu runs faster and better, but there's just one problem I cannot solve: he uses a public wireless connection from his university, and with Lubuntu he can enter only on google pages (other pages just don't connect), while with Windows he can surf the whole web.

Is there anything unkown about Lubuntu and its connection that I should know??

Can anyone help me??

Thanks a lot

i would suggest you remove Windows, because it can be quite a space consumption for an old laptop,
for the solution, i think you should install lubuntu at the university... hope he can use it there.
or, It is probably at the web browser. Try other alternatives: Opera, Chrome, etc.

Well, now I removed windows and installed Lubuntu in the whole HD, but the problem persists. I also tried other browsers, such as Opera, Firefox and even Epiphany, but I still get this problem.

So I decided to install another Linux distro just to see if anything goes different. I installed Mageia 2 Lxde, and guess what: now it works!!

I've solved the problem, but there's a big doubt in my head of why Lubuntu wouldn't work!! Maybe the wireless driver??

Thanks anyway!!

Cheers!

Lubuntu is a lightweight distribution as said on the website.... they probably cut out the drivers to save space.

You are welcome, but, it would be best to thank me by clicking "Yes" at the bottom-right of my post.
