Lost ubuntu on 2nd drive-how to remove boot loader?

I have lost my linux operating system on my second drive
need to know how to remove the boot loader. The original ubuntu
cd loads the system but indicates it is loading(moving bar back and forth)but is in a loop.I think it is trying to boot from the cd which
has been ejected at the end of the installation sequence.

Thanks for any help.

Most recent (k)ubuntu install CDs offer to run from CD at the boot menu. This is useful if you need to fix up your boot loader (usually grub).

If this used to work, but no longer does, you may have a hardware problem. Be methodical and isolate it:
-Can you choose memtest86 when you boot from CD? Does it run?
-Try another CD platter. Any better?
-Replace your CD drive. Any better?
-Open case, de-dust, reseat connectors and boards. Any better?

You get the idea.

Boot loader still there

Thanks for the reply I have tried different drives but the cd loads
ok but the boot loader still tries to find the cd rom instead of the hard drive.
When it suggests that i should install ubuntu on a drive (I have 3 drives)
I change the drive so I think ubuntu is installing the new boot loader on one of the other drives.I am going to try again reinstalling
and accepting the nominates drive.
I would still like to remove this boot loader but there does not appear
to be any way to do it apart from a complete first drive reformat.
I used to install a boot loader called osl2000 which overwrites the grub
bootloader and then i uninstalled osl 2000 and the boot loaders were
removed.This does not now work.
Also fdisk/mbr cleared the boot loader but now I am not sure about using it.

Greatful for any comments.
