logging off

when I log off it takes one and a half minutes to shut down, while it is shutting down I hit the escape key and see in the top left the shut down process and at the bottom is a message "session 2 had a stop order" and is in the process of counting to one and a half minutes, when it is finished the computor shuts down. kubuntu 16.04, also I have no idea how it happened and what to do. dancam

the reason I had trouble logging off was because I had loaded a program "vpn" with pia and I had to disconnect it for me to make a normal log off. thanks again Dan
