lock system on password?


anyone know of a way to set up ubuntu so that is the password if asked for it locks the system untill the password is given? would be a good protection thing.

Go to System > Preferences > Screensaver and select the option to lock the screen until a password is given. Obviously, you'll need to have the screensaver kick in after a certain amount of idle time first.

ah cool yes that is a good idea, you know of a way to do it when synaptic or another app asks you for a password? this would be good too

Do you need this as a security measure? It sounds like you want to make sure the system is unusable if anyone tries to do anything which requires admin access.
