Is this a new install, or live cd boot?
What type of machine?

1. Assuming this is on Ubuntu installed to your hard drive:
Was the system running ok at first after you installed Ubuntu? Did this problem then suddenly develop after getting updates to the operating system?
Or did the problem develop after making any changes to the system?

2. Again, assuming this is on Ubuntu installed to your hard drive:
Are you able to run Ubuntu ok from the live CD?

Please try to provide as much detail as you can about your system (hardware specs, drivers you may have installed, etc), and how this problem developed.

And welcome to the LQ forums!

If this is the case, then it is the responsibility of Dell's tech support to fix it, since the computer should still be under warranty. Have you tried contacting Dell?
