kubuntu randomly log me off

This is a weird problem I'm experiencing with kubuntu 6.10: I get randomly logged off, I have to log in again but the major problem is that I loose the unsaved work.

Of course I know this is not really happening at random...it is just to say I cannot figure out what caused the crash. Neither I know what kind of information I need to detect the underlying problem.

Any hint?

Randomly? Maybe some kind of screen saver feature? Check screen saver configuration.

Screensaver works alright, and I was working on the laptop when I got logged off, do screensaver was not supposed to start in those moments. Again, I said it happens "randomly" because I'm not able to figure out any regularity in this inconvenient. I only know I was using base applications (firefox, openoffice, an ssh session, thunderbird).

I checked the syslog I found these two lines can be interesting for my problem, they refer to log just before the last crash

Apr 24 11:46:01 stefano-laptop gconfd (stefano-5984): Exiting

It seems is a gconf issue. What do you suggest?
