Kubuntu log in problem
 

Hi,
I am programming using Qt4 on Kubuntu 6.06. On my backup box I have Qt3, also running Kubuntu 6.06.

Now when I try to boot the backup, everything seems normal (all OKs), but when the "User log in" screen is supposed to come up, I get a "flash" and then the screen goes back to the Kubuntu boot screen with the progress strip blank. The only thing that works is "cntr alt del" and the program goes into "reboot" mode normally.

When I boot "recouvery mode" every thing works normally, I can log in, see all my files etc. but of course I don't have "KDM" running.

I have a 2nd drive on the computer on which I can mount the problem drive and run the programs.

I am at a loss on how to fix the "user log in"
