Using Mepis and a Efficient Networks Speedstream DSL modem that supports forwarding -- I can't get Ktorrent off the "stalled" and "no incoming connections, possibly firewalled" position.
I have changed the ports from 6881 for the torrent to 16881, and to 14444 from 4444 for the tracker and forwarded the ports to match. No luck. Then went back and used the ports 6881 and 4444 in the configuration, and nothing. I changed the firewall settings in Guarddog to match the appropriate port conditions. Every result is the same. What am I missing? thx

Have you tried using the Upnp option? It's supposed to automatically forward the necessary ports for you. You need to load it in the plugins section.
UPnP has kicked in. It has identified the router and forwarded port 16881 (TCP) with the WAN connection as both IP and PPP and has done the same with port 6881 (UDP) with WAN connection as IP and PPP. (Port 16881 is the port I set in the configuration.) No mention in the UPnP of the tracker set at port 14444.
Hey Everyone !
Forget KTorrent, and the problems related to it.
Just use Deluge
the best
If u have worked on windows and liked Utorrent then u'll love Deluge
