KMail message list not showing
Hello,
I'm running Kubuntu 6.06 and KDE 3.5.3. I recently had to reinstall Kubuntu on my laptop. I copied my home folder first onto a USB memory stick, and copied this into the new home folder under the new installation. Everyhing has gone fine, apart from -
in KMail I have received incoming emails and a number appears after 'inbox' to show how many. The pane which lists the messages however is completely blank. The .kde/share/apps/kmail/mail inbox file is empty (permissions are fine). I'm guessing that kmail has put the messages somewhere else, but I can't think where.
How can I get to see my messages?
Donald

This may be a problem with the index files kmail uses.
Try: stopping kmail, go to ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail and delete the index files. Re-start kmail, and your mail should be reindexed.
Better?
HTH
EditI suppose you have made sure owner:group permissions are OK?

I've been using kmail for years and it has always stored the messages in the /home/user_name/Mail/ directory not the .kde directory I would check to make sure the permissions are correct on the Mail directory and its sub-directories.

Yes, but kubuntu6.06 with KDE 3.5.2 mail is stored under the ~/.kde directory as above (I just checked again). Weird but true!
