kernel upgrade and grub entries

Part of a recent Hardy upgrade included an updated kernel version to 2.6.24-24. I decided on the option to retain current grub entries. Now synaptec shows 2.6.24-24 as installed and „uname -r „ returns 2.6.24-23. If I change grub entries will I then be using latest kernel? Obliged for any help here.

Not sure what the command is but there is one to rerun the grub update to the menu list. Shouldn't be to hard to find on google.

hi

before you do your next kernel upgrade keep a backup of copy of your menu somewhere. And allow scripts to update the menu.

For now, copy an entry...look at /boot for the names of your new kernel and initrd and make the changes to that new entry.

If you use default as a setting...change that to the new one...you can always reboot into older kernel and fix.
