Question kernel: RTNL: assertion failed at /build/linux-hwe-vH8Hlo/linux-hwe-4.10.0/net/core/dev.c (2322)

I've recently been getting two errors in the system logs in Xubuntu 16.04.2 with kernel 4.10.0-28-lowlatency, and I haven't been able to find anything about them.

I tried searching for the linux-hwe source code to work out what the assertion failures were about, but without any success.

The system is working well, so hopefully the errors are nothing serious, but if anyone can shed some light on these errors, or point me in the direction of the linux-hwe source code, it would be appreciated.

These are the errors:
Code:
kernel: RTNL: assertion failed at /build/linux-hwe-vH8Hlo/linux-hwe-4.10.0/net/core/dev.c (2322)
kernel: RTNL: assertion failed at /build/linux-hwe-vH8Hlo/linux-hwe-4.10.0/net/core/dev.c (2364)
