I have Kde4-desktop installed with Ubuntu. Both versions are 8.04 Kde4 is really appealing and i like it a lot. The problem is that when i close my laptop screen the screen gets distorted and requires me to push cntr+alt+backspace gnome does the same thing but i told gnome to do nothing when i close my laptop lid, and that fixed the problem How can i do the same thing in kde 4
Per Rabbit "then you can downgrade to kde3," but how? I changed Intrepid to Fiesty in sources.list, refreshed packages list, then still found only KDE 4 offered.
How can I get KDE3 installed with KDE 4 still installed?

Since I don't use any apt-based Linux distro, I would not be very sure how to do this specifically. But generally, you have to uninstall all the KDE 4 packages and install KDE 3.5. Then all you have to do from there is install a KDE4 lookalike theme for KDE3.5 . http://kde-look.org is a good place to Find themes for all sorts of KDE related apps. The downgrading means you would have to remove all the core KDE 4 libraries, which means that if you really want to still use Dolphin or whatever, you can leave them. But things like KWin and something like kde-core have to be replaced.
