Just installed ubuntu... got a question (LDAP,PHP)

I'm going through and so far im LOVING it... its running GREAT on my laptop... now, my actual production server runs slackware but im thinking about making a migration... at any rate... one thing ive noticed is that PHP isnt compiled with options but with the .ini file... so my question is how do i get ldap support in php in ubuntu?

heres what i did:

sudo apt-get install slapd
sudo apt-get install openldap

goto:

/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini

and added:

extension=mod_ldap.so

then:

sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

sudo apt-get install php5-gd

sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

I believe all you really need to do is install the php4-ldap or php5-ldap packages (and restart apache).

Code:

sudo apt-get install php5-ldap
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

At least that worked for me.
