Just installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and have no internet
I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 onto an old Dell Inspiron 1521. I am unable to access the internet either by wireless or plugging the ethernet cable from the modem to the laptop. When I installed Ubuntu, I had the laptop connected to my router with an ethernet cable and it said I had internet on the screen that says how much space you need and that you should be plugged into a power source. I'm thinking I need to install drivers but I'm not sure and don't know how to do that with Linux. First time using it.
And Ubuntu 14.04 will be released by the end of this month. Also, Ubuntu 14.04 will be a long term support (LTS) release, which means that that it should be supported for 5 years for the desktop version: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTS
The non-LTS versions of Ubuntu are only supported for 9 months. So if you do not want or need to upgrade every 6-9 months then the LTS version is the way to go.
