Jaunty memtest86+ error 13

I did a new install of Jaunty a few months ago with no problems.
I believe I have installed all available updates to Jaunty.
Last week I had 768 DDR SDRAM in Dell 4550 Inspiron, but don't think I used "8.04.2 memtest86+" function at startup.
Recently added 512 MB DDR SDRAM replacing 256 to get 1024 total. My bios now shows the 1024 MB total memory.
Checking new memory tried "8.04.2 memtest86+" on startup, "Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format."
Memtest86+ installed and reinstalled using Synaptic, still won't perform the test on either a cold or restart. Any suggestions?
(uname -a) = : 2.6.24-23-generic #1 SMP Wed Apr 1 21:47:28 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

If you like to know if you're memory is good order use the memtest of the live CD .
If you like to know if memory is seen by you're Os use
the command free

Thanks,

mik@mik-desktop:~$ free

total used free shared buffers cached

-/+ buffers/cache: 354104 680768

Swap: 2265124 0 2265124

Will use the CD also, but any reason why memtest86+ won't work on startup?

Thanks again.
