Japanese kb layout broken after upgrading to FF. SCIM issues.

Hello everyone。I'm having a problem getting all of my language settings to work after upgrading to Feisty Fawn.

Previously, 4 keyboard layouts, qwerty, dvorak, Farsi/Persia/Iran, and Japanese, in that order. I had no problems using alt-alt to switch between layouts. After upgrading, switching to a Japanese layout using alt-alt is (almost) identical to the qwerty layout, though some keys are off(edit: They are not "off", but it's the punctuation layout for the Ja keyboard).

So. Having checked my keyboard layouts to make sure everything is there, I installed Japanese language support from System --> Administration. Now I have a SCIM icon in my toolbar, which I need to activate using ctrl-space, in addition to using alt-alt to switch between other keyboard layouts, including the non-working Japanese layout.

What I want to do is have one simple method of switching keyboard layouts (English/Dvorak/Farsi/Japanese(I want to switch to romaji typing method)), preferably with SCIM disabled and out of mind.

If anyone can illuminate me as to the source of the problem, it would be much appreciated.
