ISO Errors
Hello,
I have been having problems with Ubuntu. I just downloaded it yesterday and burned it to CD. However, when attempting to install it, I get errors. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the exact error but it stops the install. I will give further information later but wanted to ask if anyone has heard of this happening and if so, what the problems might be? I checked it with the MD5 and it appears to be a valid file, but the disk is giving me errors. Thanks!

hmm, thanks. I will try that but what else do you think it might be, just in case that doesn't work? In addition, the only speed I can use is 4x. The drive I'm using is a Sony CRX100E with Win 2K using a program called CDBurnerXP. I also have options: Burn Method: Track at Once or Session at Once. Any help is appreciated.

Reason: missing info
1) Have a look at the Ubuntu guide to burning an ISO. It suggests using a program called Infra Recorder.
2) Can your computer boot from USB? You could burn the IOS to a USB stick using the program called Unetbootin - which is available for both Windows and Linux
I can share in the OP's problems: I have to install from a USB flash drive because when I try to install to my rig from the CD, I get an error that refers to a faulty CD/DVD/HDD.
Similarly, before, when I tried to install Windows (back before I was a real advocate of FOSS), I would get an error copying/expanding files, saying "The file does not exist". It seems as though my drive's laser is writing zeroes to my CDs and deleting vital files.
OP, your only hope is using usb-creator-gtk and installing from a USB flash drive.

Hmm,
I did not know they make flash drives large enough to store an entire CD!!?? Secondly, doesn't your pc's BIOS have to support booting from a flash drive in order to work? I don't know if mine does as it is a slightly older box that I built myself a few years ago. Thanks.
