Is it normal getting a message on right top to reboot

I noticed a message icon on right top which recommended to reboot since some updates for kernel were applied. I did the same updates on another box but such message didn't appear. Is it normal?

The reboot message is normal; I get it after kernal updates. I'm not sure why your other machine didn't have to reboot, are you sure the update was exactly the same?

Yes, you should always reboot after a kernel update/upgrade. If you don't, then you're not taking advantage of the new kernel.
