installing ubnatu hang up


recently i downloaded ubantu and it hangs up when it says prearing to install.. and it doesnt move past 0%.

my biggest hurdle i believe i have is my processor is a 233mhz. and i recieved a error message will installing some of the things on the harddrive.

You might want to download the ISO again and reburn it.

What part of the install does this hang because there are two install session. The first session comes from the cd and the second part of the install references obtaining the rest of the packages from the net.

oh... it needs the net LOL ok... it was trying to configure the dhcp but i said not to and i thought it would just move without it...

ok so i have installed a few times and i still have this problem. the first thing i recieve is an error message about not having enough space. i have a 4 gig harddrive and i am installing the desktop which only needs 1 gig. i dont think my computer is to slow, i am using a 350 mhz p2. yea i know im behind the times LOL..

Sounds like you do not have your hard drive partitioned in the proper manner. Let Ubuntu automatically partition your hard drive. Meaning erase the entire drive. If that does not work then you might have some weird partition table that is messing up the install. (Had this problem a couple of weeks ago.) Used fdisk or maybe it's the other program during the install to remove all partitions.

ok.. i am trying some of the other partiions options.. hopefully which will help me out.

so now that i feel like a total idiot i found my problem.. something was wrong with the disc i used. i made another copy and this one has passed thanks brianthegreat....
