Installing programs

Hey again..

My problem is, how you install programs in ubuntu. I know the 'add apps' function, but how do you install other programs?

Isnt it something in the terminal and writing sudo? If it is, when i do this, i cant do anything, because i isnt logged in to the rroot system.

What can i do?

Install what other programs? For software available through Ubuntu's APT repositories, you can just run synaptic to download and install it. It it's not available through APT, then it depends on the program. Are you trying to install from source, downloaded DEBs, RPMs, some other binary package? You'll need to give a little more information.

whats the extension of the program you want to install ???

if its .deb then to install it type : sudo dpkg -i package.deb
