Installing gtk 2.x theme

Hello , i hope someone can help me here, I have been trying to install a gtk 2.x theme from www.gnome-look.org and I cannot figure it out. I can install the theme through the theme manager, but it does not show up in the theme list. the only way i can see part of it is if I go to theme details and on the controls tab, switch it to the theme i just installed. the theme does not show up on the other 2 tabs under theme details (window border and Icons). I have tried a few different thems and i have the same problem with all of them. The one im trying to install is called Nocturn 1.4. All help is appreciated.

Thanks

Did you install the metacity theme?
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...1c704a8eeb53da

Windows border and icons are not part of the nocturn theme. The windows border part is called "stormcloud". The only icon pack included is headed "Start icon Ubuntu Debian Suse Gentoo Tux". Presumably you need to select your favorite dark icons to go with the theme.

I'd suggest posting comment to the designer.

While it seems to be a good looking theme - it is poorly packaged.

Thanks simon for the info, i have managed to get it working, and thats exactly what the problem was, poor packaging, the trickiest part was getting the start icon to work, for that I had to:

open gconf-editor

goto apps/panel/objects/object_o - then click custom icon, then change menu path to where the icon is.

One thing i want to note is I had a really hard time finding gtk2-engines-pixbuf in synaptic. I say really hard because I have actually done this twice, the first time it was right there, the second time i really had to search around for answers and found out that i needed to install the synaptic repositories, which worked, but i never had to do it the first time. Im still clueless as to why it worked out like that but it works now and thats all i care about.
