Installing a list of packages on a second machine

Hello all,

I currently have a lap top which is set up with all the applications and packages that I desire. I am running Kubuntu 7.10.

However, I have just installed Kubuntu 7.10 on my desktop as well and I'd like to install the exact same packages on that machine.

So my question is:

Does anyone know of a way of getting a list of all the packages on one machine, then getting apt (on my second machine) to install the same list of packages?

I've googled around a bit and found some very interesting ways of doing it, some of which I am sure are a bit dodgy. So I am really looking for the OFFICIAL Ubuntu way of doing this, if it exists.

Thanks in advance to one and all,

Moschops

LQ has this neat system:
When you start a new thread, you give it a title. Then there's a little button that says "Click here to find similar threads" [After filling in your thread title you may want to try clicking the above button to see if a similar question has already been asked (and possibly answered).]

I don't think you tried this, because at the very end of this page you will see the "Similar threads" that button would have shown you, where the second (currently) link offered is this one:
