installer program

Is there a graphical program that will install things for me instead of using the terminal?

Synaptic Package Manager, it is under the System > Adminstration menu.

Oh. There is a dpkg frontend called dselect that comes with Ubuntu (Breezy, is all I have). It is more of an ncurses type front-end, not terribly graphical but interactive...but that would require use of the terminal. aptitude is also a pretty nice front-end for apt-get; again, it is terminal based. What is your reasoning for avoiding the terminal, perhaps we (or I) could answer better if we knew what you had in mind, using "dpkg -i" would probably be faster than a graphical front-end.

Other than that, I don't know of any graphical front-ends for dpkg
