Installed ubuntu, but want to apapt-get KDE

I tried to install Kubuntu, but the Motherf___ING CD happened to be bad. So I wasn't goint to install another distribution after I had already deleted all my partitions. I decided to install ubuntu as "server" so that as little as possible is installed. Right now, I have already finished installing ubuntu (installed lynx) and I want to install KDE just like kubuntu would have done. How can I do that? What repository do I have to add (I have already commented out the Ubuntu CD repository)? What package do I have to install? Remember..... I'm in console mode.
I have already updated ubuntu, by the way.

Follow these directions:

http://ubuntuguide.org/#extrarepositories

Since you're using console only you may need to do sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list instead of sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Also, if you're using Breezy, replace all the hoary references with breezy

Oh, and comment out the backports.

Then
Code:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

Remember, I'd like this "experiment" to be as close to kubuntu as posossible. Maybe there's one package in a certain repository that can get that done. (I'm a hopeless optimist, right? ;))

I have already managed to edit the sources.list file (with vi)
But what repository do I have to add? None? Just go for kubuntu-desktotop?

Please re-read my post.
I link to directions for which repositories you should have.
I also give you the exact code to type in to get Kubuntu installed.

You're not optimistic. There is one package. Read more here: http://www.kubuntu.org/faq.php

had same problem

I downloaded kubuntu from ubuntu.com and started installing when it got to the base system instillation it said bad cd, so i re-burned the disc at a low speed i think it was x10 and the instillation worked without a flaw.

OK.... I added the kubuntu CD to my repositories (with apt-cdrom) just in case, and did
Code:

apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
and it seems to be working.... but it's going to take some time to dowownload a lot of stuff (updates I guess).

OK..... Sorry to not have read all the information you provided. It can be a little messy to move around in lynx (in case you haven't tried). I thank you all for the information you have provided so far. It'll take a while till apt-get downloads everything (like 50 minutes from now). I'll keep in touch.

Done! Thank you guys! I'm using konqueror right now. ;) I had some problems to get X to come up, but after fooling around for a while, I got it to work (very good I saved the old XFree86 config file before formatting / ;))

I'm having some mouse problems, though, so I'll start a new thread! :-)
