Installed dual boot Winxp and Kubutu with boot on floppy, help.

Well, I just got done doing a clean install of Win xp on partition 1 of my 80 gig hard drive and I put Ubuntu on partition 2 of it. It' all running good. My problem is, I thought Xp would be safer if I put grub on a floppy, which I did. However, I can't get into Xp with out the floppy booting up then of course giving me the boot options.. I thought Xp would boot up fine with out the Grub Boot floppy in the floppy drive, but I get a boot error no matter what order I have the bios set to.. Is there a way for me to get XP to boot up by it self with out the Grug boot floppy? I did try to do the fixmbr but it did not work on the repair with the xp install disk... Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mitch

If someone else has a better suggestion, go for it.

This is what I would do. Install GRUB on Ubuntu, and then set the configuration file (/etc/grub.conf) to have the machine automatically boot into XP. GRUB can boot XP just fine.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Michael_S.
It's appreciated.

I found this on the Ubuntu forum and it worked like a charm.
All I had to do was sudo and typed this.

grub-install /dev/hda

Now, I have the Grub boot loader on my Hard drive and it's working fine..

Now, I have to learn how and what is the best way to update Kubuntu...

Thanks.
