installation of tar.gz file


hello every one ....
I am new to the ubuntu and i want to really learn the basic commands. but its seems really very difficult because it causing so many problems just for a single installation. So please someone help ..
I want to install flash_player.tar.gz file saved on Desktop, after extraction it have two file on the Desktop
1- usr(directory) and
2-libflashplayer.so (file)
but after this I am facing problem in below command
./configure (it gives that no such directory exist)
so please help me to solve this

and one more thing please specify for which shell you are writing the command (sh, bash or ksh)

Works in every shell and is as simple as

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
The best and simplest way to install on a Linux distro with package management, like Ubuntu, is to first look at the repositories if you can install the program from there. This way all dependencies are installed automatically and you will get updates also automatically.
