Install Help Needed
I am trying to install Ubuntu ver 6.10. When the Menu Screen comes up, I have tried selecting "Install ubuntu" and I have also tried "Start in Safe Graphic Mode" Each time a screen comes up with this on it:
Busy Box v1.1.3(Debian1:1.1.3-2ubuntu3) Built in Shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
/bin/sh: cannot access tty; job control turned off
(initramfs)_
with the cursor flashing after the (initramfs line.
I have tried doing the memory test, and that seems to work ok.
I have installed Fedora Core 6 on this same system, and it installs ok, but I would very much like to try ubuntu , if it is possible.
I have these install disks form some linux mags, and the Ubuntu side is supposed to run live from the DVD, but I cannot get it to do that, either. But I can boot from the DVD disk ok, but it comes up to the above error.
I have installed and used Linux previously, but its been a long time ago--back in the Redhat 5 and 6 days--so I suppose I would be considered a "newbie".
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
