Htop vs 'top' vs 'free' disparity

When I run Htop on my Ubuntu 10.04 machine, the "Mem" line reads 239/992MB.

However, when I run 'top' I get:

Mem: 1016332k total, 746252k used, 270080k free, 64060k buffers
Swap: 1951736k total, 0k used, 1951736k free, 436904k cached

Also, when I run 'free', I get:
Mem:
total: 1016332
used: 748520
free: 267812
shared: 0
buffers: 64168
cached: 440200
-/+ buffers/cache: used: 244152 free: 772180
Swap: total:1951736 used: 0 free: 1951736

It seems like Htop tells me I have more than 700MB free, but 'top' and 'free' tell me that I only have about 270MB free.

Can anyone explain this?
