howto search installed files from packaged via apt?

Hi,

I am looking for a terminal method for searching a package's installed files. I do this in synaptic by searching for the installed package, clicking properties, and going to "installed files". This takes a long time and lists all the files, when I may only want to look for, as an example, the readme file included in the package.

thanks if you can help.

regards,
Rich

DPKG can do this without APT.

Code:
dpkg -L <package_name>
