Q: how to see vmware shared folder via ubuntu live?

i have a windows xp host and windows 98 vmware 5.5.1 guest. it works great. i now use ubuntu live cd (as iso) and was not able to find the shared folder set in this virtual machine. if i boot to windows 98, the guest system, i am ok.

could someone please tell me how to view the shared folder via ubuntu live? thanks, shen

If I recall correctly, Linux VMs access shared folders under /mnt/hgfs. Of course, you need to have vmware-tools installed in the guest OS to see them.

thank you ada. it would be a challenge to install VMWare tools in ubuntu live when it takes CDROM already and doesn't write much into hard disk.

maybe i can try to add another virtual cd drive? let me try that...
