How to prevent auto-mount a specific USB drive
I have just installed 15.10. I need to prevent a specifi USB drive from auto-mounting because it is used as an external backup drive and should not be normally visible. However, I do still want users to be able to have their own USB device auto-mounted when inserted.
With 14.04 I used instructions such as: http://askubuntu.com/questions/30112...-auto-mounting to create a udev rule (although I never really tested it), but 15.10 does not ship with udisks and `apt-get install udisks` gives "No installation candidate". How do I accomplish this on 15.10? |
Have you tried putting it in fstab by UID and noauto option?

Well, that worked just fine! I wonder why the complex udev rule solution is the only one I found posted -- which I don't think works anyway unless the automounted drive has actually been mounted.
