How to play videos on Break.com

Can someone tell me how to play videos on http://www.break.com in dummy-neese.. ;)

What I have: Totem and MPlayer
I've installed the Codecs listed here... http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Dapper#H...timedia_Codecs (Note, its 6.19 ifthat doesn't directly link you to it)

http://www.youtube.com plays perfectly, so I suspect I'm missing some sort of plugin..

Thanks in advance..

you click on the link 'change settings' or 'change video settings' which is just below every clip you view, choose to play clips in flash, install the flash player and you are set :-)

you may need to change which plugin you are using for Video/sound/etc. I use the mplayer-plugin for such and it works great. had no problem playing the videos at break.com. The package is in the repositories (named: mozilla-mplayer) so no problem to install. just be sure you don't have multiple overlaping plugins (i.e. if you have the totem plugin or mozilla-plugin-vlc in probably best to remove it when you put the mplayer-plugin in).

I noticed the guide you linked to suggsted mozilla-plugin-vlc. the problem with that is that the ubuntu distribution of VLC does not use the w32codecs and thus wont play a lot of windows/propriatary video. the mplayer-plugin does.

hope this helps

you can select how you want to view a clip on www.break.com - i watch clips there every day.
you can chose to use wma files or flash emeded clips. if you set it to wma you will have to have mplayer setup correctly - if you set the break.com settings to flash you can view clips just like on youtube

Thanks for the help/suggestions...

I know how to change which video player my browser is using, its just that my browser is working with neither player(As mentioned though, Youtube works fine)...

I have flashplayer installed for Firefox 1.5.0.7, Opera 9.02, and Mozilla 1.7.12. All of them, Youtube works without issue, so I don't think its an issue with Flashplayer. None of them works on Break.com, no matter what player I choose(wma or macromedia).... According to Adobe.com, I have the most current version of Flashplayer(7)

Oddly though, after I followed Freemor's instructions, under Firefox and Firefox only, If I choose the Windows Media Player option, the audio for the footage plays, but the video doesn't. It just says, "no picture"... Flashplayer still does absolutely nothing.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I think I crashed Google.com with all the searches I did on this.. ;)

Well, I have absolutely no idea what I done, but I came across automatix via google, and installed the W32codecs through it. Thing is, I'd installed them several times from the link I posted above, and it still wasn't working..

Well, Mysteriously, it worked after using Automatix... Youtube still works, and Break.com plays via Mplayer...

Thanks to all who helped..
