How to make Ubuntu look nice & old dos games

Hi

Getting used to Ubuntu 5.10. Looks a bit ugly. Anyone know how to make Ubuntu look a bit nicer. I've heard about XGL, opengl desktop. Don't exactly know how it works, does it run with GNOME or is it a GNOME replacement? I saw this: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/gallery/...352&original=1

Where can I get those stats it shows on the top right? I also saw this: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/gallery/...705&original=1

Where can I get that theme or whatever is being used? Another thing... Have any of you people been to www.the-underdogs.org? Is there site just down or are they closed? I'm looking for a similar place to get some of those oldies.

Any help appreciated

Try art.gnome.org for Gnome themes. Alternatively, try Kubuntu

as he said for gnome themes, or just customize by clicking in system>preferences and there should be something in there about backgrounds, menu bars etc
