I have downloaded the Ubuntu 7.10 DVD image and burned it to disc. I wish to install this on an older Compaq which does not have the option to boot from USB drives within the BIOS. I found a utility called Wakepup which fits onto a floppy that is geared to boot Puppy Linux, but I do not know if this will work for the Ubuntu installation. I'm sure that this has been asked before, but does anyone know of a utility that would work that I could boot from floppy disk in order to begin the installation from an external USB DVD device? Thanks.

never tried that one but have seen a boot floppy from featherlinux to allow USB booting from non bios USB boot versions.

I've downloaded that file from feather linux, and my problem is that it is like 1.75 mb, so how can it fit on a 1.44 mb floppy?
