How to configure Xine or MPlayer for fully performance ?

if I try to play a video file with any of those players, it refuses to play it. Guess it's the codecs.. but I don't know if anything else should I do ... ?

or if u can refer me to a post where are some tutorials of configuring those players.

thx.

try vlc media player
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
they have rpms for most distros + codecs all in one place. It plays almost any media format you throw at it including encrypted dvds, something i couldnt get mplayer to do even though i read its possible.

ok, I downloaded it and installed it, and indeed it does play video files and all.. but when at full screen, its crazy pixelate and looks the image quality is terrible. I guess I'll still have to install xine or mplayer...
