How to autorun an ISO after mounting it?

I am trying to upgrade from Jaunty to Karmic. So, instead of doing it from upgrade manager, I decided to download iso and mount it.

I mounted 9.10 image in /media/cdrom0 directory and followed the helpful upgrade guide at http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading. But I can't seem to make any progress. Here's what i did.

nothing happens when I use any of commands below, or combinations thereof.
- gksu "sh /media/cdrom0/cdromupgrade"
- gksu "sh /media/cdrom0"
- gksu "/media/cdrom0"
- gksu "/media/cdrom0/cdromupgrade"
I even tried above commands for kde using kdesudo.

Can someone help?
Thanks in advance.
I am able to do it, but am unable to go further.

If you burned it to cdrom , then you can do :
sudo apt-cdrom add

But if it's a live cd : No packages, but mainly
one big compressed file = filesystem.squashfs ,
670 MB, which is an image of an installed OS.

So please check the files on the cd, if you find
2,000 packages.deb , it may be usable.
( I don't see any 9.10 DVD's on the Ubuntu site,
the DVD's have packages, cd's don't.)
.....
The "alternate cd" which can do the upgrade trick,
may be available later, or am I misunderstanding
things, and you really have the "alternate cd" ? ?
> > sudo mount -o loop \
~/Desktop/ubuntu-9.10-alternate-i386.iso /media/cdrom0
,,, ref. your link http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading
.....

Where did you find any information about " autorun " ? ?

I don't see it mentioned in the Ubuntu instructions
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading
Please read the "ubuntu-9.10-alternate-i386.iso"
info text again.
