How do you hide files and folders in 6.10 Edgy

I just got my ndiswrapper working after many months but the tutorial created my files in my home folder and i wanted to hide them rather than move them nd do this all over again. I know you can do it cuz i have the option to show hidden files. But i cant find how you actually hide them. Does anyone know how to hide???

You can hide a file or directory by adding a period (.) to the beginning of the name. Keep in mind that this might break something because you are changing the path to that file or directory.
Code:
mv file .file

To make a folder hidden you put a . in front of its name so for instance /hidden would show but /.hidden wouldn't.

I dunno about individual files but I'm guessing if you move your conf files to a folder (hidden or otherwise) you may have to do some tweaking so that the relevant apps know where they should go looking for those files.

Yeah but now you know how to do it it should be easy just create /.ndiswrapper in your home folder and use that instead of just plain /home when you run through the tutorial.

You could also just dump the files in folder and try it, see what gives and just edit the relevant conf file to point to the new / correct location.
