How do I load HP drivers onto Linux?

Through google I found the linuxprint.org site, it has my printer listed and I am semi-familiar with cups (I know how to use it to access a printing history for student laptops but that is it). I just don't know how to actually make it work and the site doesn't walk me through well enough.

I have a hp deskjet 3920 that I would like to set up to print off of our new snazy kubuntu system.

Can anyone help, is CUPS the hard way to do it?

With Ubuntu/kubuntu you should be able to just sudo aptitude install hplip hpijs. Then you should be able to just enter http://localhost:631 into your web browser and manage your printers that way.

Okay I went and typed all of that into konsole and then went to CUPS....I select my printer do everything it asks me and then it asks for a username and password. I enter what I would use to logon to this computer and it won't take it then it tells me it needs the root username and password...what is that and where do I find it?

Sorry for having to walk me through but I am still figuring all of this out

Actually, if you go into Kuser, you can add yourself to the printer admin group (lpadmin, I think). Then you can administer CUPS as a regular user.
