How do I get the full power of an ATI 200M card on Edgy?

I've seen many people with problems with the ATI 200M video card on Edgy. I'm not a total newbie, but when it comes to fglrx and all the other stuff, I'm clueless. I just want a simple, plain walkthrough on getting 3D Acceleration, and Beryl (Or Compiz) working on my card. I've also seen people getting errors only on Edgy, with it working fine in Dapper. I have no problem with downgrading to Dapper, just as long as I can update all my packages and stuff . . .

I think there is a sollution not sure though. I do not have an ATI card but lets try this:
apt-cache search linux | grep fglrx
you gonne get a binary linux kernel module package. Install it.
apt-get install fglrx-kernel-source

After that you have to install the driver itself:
again:
apt-cache search fglrx
you gonna get some results. I would choose the xorg-driver-fglrx and the fglrx-control to be installed.
Now ya need to edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Choose the fglrx to the driver instead of vesa.
The 3D is still not enabled but you are on the right track.

This is the section I presume you mean to change after installing fglrx

Quote:
Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Technologies, Inc. Radeon Xpress 200M (RS482)"
Driver "fglrx"
BusID "PCI:1:5:0"
EndSection
Where "fglrx" is was "ati".
