Angry How do I change XFCE's screensaver to anything other than Xscreensaver?

I thought this would be an easy problem, but it almost looks impossible.
Is there **any** way to make XFCE use something other than Xscreensaver?

here's something you need to understand:
all screensavers under Xorg ultimately make use of some plug/extension thingy that is present in X itself.
XFCE does not decide which app is activated.

if there's no screensaver "plugged in", X willjust blank the screen following rules defined with 'xset'.

you can disable xscreensaver and use some app that plugs into that. these apps are almost as ancient as X itself: xss, xss-lock, xlock, xlockmore
here's what i have in my autostart files:
Code:
xss /path/to/myscreensaverexecutable
but you should check with
Code:
xset
what the current settings are, and adjust them to your wishes.
