How connect Ubuntu online using a dial-up modem?
I've loaded Ubuntu but can't find a way to make it connect to my server using a dial-up modem. Isn't there a simple command link to click on such as with Windows?

Unfortunately its not entirely simple, dial-up is tricky.
I ran a google search on "ubuntu dialup" and this was the first result I got https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto I'd suggest that as a great starting point for setting this up. Thanks! -- Drew |
There are a number of programs that connect supported modems. Some modems that require proprietary Windows only drivers to even work can be difficult.
If your modem is not even detected you should post the model/chipset. A program such as "lshw" in Linux (install if not on your system) or Belarc Advisor in Windows should show any information you do not know yourself, about your hardware. |
first you must check what modem do you have , make sure it is detected and working
i suggest to use wvdial , it is a great tool for dialup . |
wvdial is install by default & to auto scan for your modem in a terminal do wvdialconf and hit enter. :) of course u will have to edit some files, etc.. for some frontends try gnome-ppp and kppp.
