This should be in the repositories. Current version is 2.22. You can search for the version in the repositories ( see below ) and install from there or if it is not ( I would be suprised ) you can dowload from the link below & build from source.

http://www.gnu.org/software/binutils/

Code:
sudo aptitude search PACKAGE NAME

sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude install PACKAGE NAME

What version of that package are you running? Why do you want a different one? What version do you want?

Where did you get this package?

I no longer run Ubuntu so I can't check the repo easily myself.

The error messages seem straight forward though. You need a newer version of a lot of packages.

This seems to me to indicate that you are pulling this package from somewhere besides the 10.04 repo.

Do you have the 10.04 backports repo enabled?

I downloaded the latest version for ubuntu from http://developer.amd.com/tools/CodeA...s/default.aspx
I know that this package is for ubuntu 11.10 and my OS is old (10.04). But I have no plan to upgrade the release because of a lot of settings I made in the os.

How can I enable 10.04 backports?

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports

That is a pretty big jump in versions for a package. Not to sure you are going to get that installed on 10.04.
