how can i log in ubunto linux as root user????

Hi...
I am a new ubunto user.
while the installation the ubuntu linux i werw'not asked to inter root user or root password.
So i try to log in by a root user but i did not know th passwoed.
how can i solve this problem?

In Ubuntu root password is generated randomly. Go to System -> Administration -> Users and Groups. Check the box "All Users", find root, and change the password.

Then go to System -> Administration -> Login Screen Setup. Click on the Security tab and check the box "Allow root login w/ GDM".

Why do you wish to log in as root user? The whole point of the sudo system is that you don't have to log in as root. Have you trie sudo access from your primary user account?

If you want to avoid the command line you can use this command to get a gui "root" window to move/edit files:
