Holding keys doesn't work

I know the thread title doesn't explain much so I'll elaborate.

I am having the problem where if I press a key such as the right arrowkey and then hold it the cursor will only move once and wont respond the the held key. This has only started within the past day, but it's starting to get annoying. For example I just made a typo while writing this post and had to press backspace about 10 times. Anyway I'm running Ubuntu 6.10 and Beryl. 512 mb of ram, 1.6 ghz, some Mobility Radeon card.

I'm a bit of a Linux noob so please explain in Windownese.
Thanks for the help.

Have you looked at your keyboard settings?

Yeah I fixed it. I went under keyboard settings and the "Repeat held keys" box was checked so I unchecked it and rechecked it and it worked.
