Question Hibernate not working on ubuntu anymore

Hi, I have the following problem:

Upon first install hibernation worked flawlessly with Ubuntu Breezy on a Samsung X10 laptop (Pentium M, Nvidia Go xyz etc.)

Then, I made two modifications:
1. Installed the closed source nVidia drivers for 3d accelereation.
2. Changed to a swap file instead of a swap partition

Hibernate stopped working - instead of turning the laptop off, I found myself back as if the screen saver was locking.

I have reverted step 2 so far. What happened:
Hibernation seemingly works but resume just starts anew as if I had shut down normally.

What can I do?

Where can I find diagnostic output of swsusp coming out of hibernation? Before I reverted step 2, I was getting something regarding boot parameters but now this is gone. Is there a special place to turn 'resume' on?

I've had some experiences with ubuntu; this far that "hibernation" shut the pc off and then booted normally (not "resuming", but "booting" instead), which seemed a bit stupid. Now (dapper flight 6, updated) it seems to work like first time I choose hibernate it puts the screensaver on (or is it "switch user"?), and only at 2nd or 3rd time it shuts the pc down - yet not resuming, but booting normally. Annoying, yes. Reason? I can only guess..

Try the Ubuntu forums or their irc-channel at Freenode (#ubuntu for the stable Breezy, #ubuntu+1 for the latest Dapper dev version).

Thanks a lot. I'm gonna wait the few weeks until dapper goes final and hope for the best.

Yeah, that's probably best at this time. I hope it'll be fixed. Shutdown seems not to actually power off some times, especially if I update this system, and some times it does power off..I guess this has something to do with the updates too. I hope and believe things get better when the stable version comes out..
